Roger Federer was born August 8, 1981 in Basel, Switzerland. His parents are, father Robert a Swiss native, and mother Lynette from South Africa, he has an older sister Diana. Roger began playing tennis at the age of 8, and turned professional in 1998.
In 2003 Roger Federer founded the Roger Federer Foundation supporting disadvantaged children in South Africa, and promoted sports for youth. Roger donated several items and money for various charities, Tsunami relief, hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
